Catfish Speedster is the Mazda MX-5 You Always Wanted to Have and It's Coming to SEMA

Bauer Limited Production is a new company formed by Cord Bauer’s Bauer Limited Production, Ron Hemphill’s Diversified Products, Tony Woodford’s AWR Racing and Dave Green’s DG Motorsports, with the purpose of using their expertise to design and develop a custom sports car named the Catfish.

The donor vehicle that the Catfish is based on is none other than the Mazda MX-5, also known as Miata and Roadster (only 1st/NA and 2nd/NB generation models from 1989 to 2005 can be used for its construction). The Japanese carmaker's open top, two-seater model was chosen because of its perfect 50:50 weight distribution, simple and light yet effective construction and affordability.

Being on the Guinness Book of Records as the best-selling two-seat sports car ever means that there are many used and reasonably priced examples to choose from: the Miata / MX-5 that was used for the first Catfish prototype cost a mere US$800 (€610).

V7 Super Coupe: Sema Show To Spawn 1000Hp Mid-Engine Corvette Sting Ray

This is exactly why I love the Sema Show; it’s like going to a toyshop for grown kids. I mean, where else would you find a mid-engine car with a Corvette Sting Ray body that’s powered by a twin-turbocharged Chevrolet LS V8 unit delivering a whopping 1000Hp? Thanks to our blog-pals at Jalopnik we not only have the info but we also have the first images of the V7 Super Coupe that’s being readied by American Super Car for this year’s Sema Show in Las Vegas. Can’t wait to see how this monster comes out. -Continued after the jump

Jeep Wrangler Ultimate & JT: 2007 SEMA Concepts

Jeep decided to share with us the first pictures of their upcoming Wrangler based Ultimate & JT concepts both of which will make their public appearance at the 2007 SEMA Show in October. Beginning with the sand-colour JT, the 4x4 pick-up is based on the new Wrangler Unlimited's 116-inch wheelbase platform featuring a 5-foot pickup bed and an easy-to-handle removable hardtop. Its off road capabilities have been enhanced thanks to the 3-inch suspension lift provided by Superlift, the 35-inch BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tires, the Mopar rear bumper & rock rails and an a Ramsey 9500 UT winch.

Coated in an experimental colour dubbed “Liquid Charcoal Pearl Coat”, the Wrangler Unlimited based Ultimate gets the same suspension and tire upgrade as the JT adding a heap of Mopar exterior chrome enhancements (including: fuel filler door, tail lamp guards, tubular side steps, exterior mirrors, tow hooks, door handles, hood hinge & fascia overlays). Jeep also took a shot at the interior adding clad seating surfaces in durable orange mesh fabric and dark slate gray Nappa/Province leather – bound with a heavy black-leather baseball stitch while the instrument panel details are treated to an Argent Pearl/Satin Silver paint combination. -High-res Image gallery after the jump
